Rules of Boundary Line
The lines surrounding the court is called the BOUNDARY LINE. When the shuttlecock hits out of the line, the point is given to the receiver. There are 2 types of boundary line; the serving line, and the boundary line. The point is given to the hitter if the shuttlecock lands right at the line. The badminton game is a game with honesty, many time, there won't be line judges or umpire to judge, so you must be sportsman and honest about whatever happens in the game. These lines are used differently according to the types of play; Doubles, or Single.
Singles
The boundary line of single is called "thin and long". Like the term, the boundary of the single's court is the inner line at the side, and the outer line at the end. If the shuttlecock hits outside the boundary, it is considered out, and the point is given to the receiver. As mentioned, the point is still given to the hitter when the shuttlecock lands right on the line. During serving, if the shuttlecock hits short on the serving line inside the court, then it is considered "short" and the point is given to the receiver. You must always be honest with the result or there is no sportsmanship involved.
Doubles
The boundary line of double's game is called "short and wide". This statement is only true when there is serving going on in the court. If the shuttlecock hits outside the inner line but inside the outer line, the serve counts and the point is given the server. If the shuttlecock hits outside the inner line but inside the outer line, the serve is count as out because as the statement said "short and wide". When the serve ends, the boundary becomes full court, which means you have the whole outside line as boundary. This rule is also applied to mixed double play.
